The real reason why I used the word Firkin in my website title is a quirky reference to my time living in England. All over London there is a chain of pubs called The Firkin Pubs. Among the many, there are: The Faintail and Firkin (our favorite in Muswell Hill, North London), The Frog and Firkin, and the Phoenix and Firkin to name only a few.
I always carry a notebook or a small journal with me. If I was inspired while enjoying a pint of dark ale at one of the Firkin pubs, I used to write down ideas for short sections of poems and short stories. So this little wink to the Firkin pubs is my way of paying tribute to the watering holes of London and their capacity to inspire Firkin Words.
