Here's what's coming up for me on the poetry front in 2014!  Some featured reader spots and some speaking engagements.  Hope to see you at one of these events!


January 16th, Thursday - Dwight Foster Library (Fort Atkinson, WI) poetry reading - featured poet with open mic 6:30-8pm

Feb 5th, Wed. - Gifted and Talented "Game Night" Co-facilitator at Books and Co. (Oconomowoc, WI)

April 5th, Sat., 7-8:30pm - Books and Co., National Poetry Month Reading - Oconomowoc, WI - featured poet

April 13th - Fox Cities Book Festival, Appleton, WI - 1:30-3pm Art & Poetry Presentation (I will be one of three guest speakers.)  Selling books, displaying photography/poetry cards/prints!

July 21st, 6:30pm  - Featured poet at the Harmony Cafe with Tom Jones, followed by open mic in Appleton, WI

2012


November 10, 2012 @ 2pm / Milwaukee Public Library

Come join us for a very special poetry reading at the Milwaukee Public Library on Sat., Nov. 10, 2012 at 2pm in the Rare Books Room. I will be one of many poets reading a poem included in the 2013 Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Calendar.


July 28th

I will be an open mic reader at the Poetry Open Mic event at Books & Co. at 7pm, 1039 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, WI. 


June 20th

I will be an open mic reader at the Summer Solstice Celebration of Poetry at the Featherstone Center for the Arts, Martha's Vineyard, MA.  6-8pm


June 2nd

I will be co-hosting and reading at the PAAC'd with Talent Open Mic event at Studios Etc. behind Roots Coffee Bar & Cafe, Oconomowoc, WI.  7-9pm. 


February 11th

Delafield Arts Center - as part of the DAC's Open House event, "Fall in Love with the Arts," (11am-5pm) there will be a special poetry reading at 12:30pm featuring poets:

2011



February 20th
Cristina will be a featured poet at the Winter Poetry Festival at Avol's Bookstore in Madison, WI.  She will be reading with fellow poets Paul Scott August and Kara Van de Graaf.

March 3rd
Cristina will be a featured reader, along with fellow poet, Liz Rhodebeck, at a special reading for the Pewaukee Women's Club

April 30th
Cristina will be an open mic participant at Books & Co. in Oconomowoc, WI for their celebration of National Poetry Month.

October 22nd
Cristina Norcross and Liz Rhodebeck, co-editors of the One Vision project, will host a special art show, poetry reading and interpretive dance performance at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.



2010

1. Cristina will be launching her fine art/poetry giclee, "A Prayer for the Waters" in collaboration with artist Holly Kallie on Sat., Oct. 2nd, 4-9pm, during the Waukesha Art Crawl at the Clinton Street Gallery in Waukesha, WI.  Both the artist and poet will be at the gallery to speak with the public about their giclee.  ALL profits from sales will go to the National Wildlife Federation.

2. Cristina Norcross and Liz Rhodebeck, co-editors for the PAAC sponsored project One Vision: A Fusion of Art & Poetry in Lake Country will be co-hosting the poetry reading and art exhibition at the Oconomowoc Arts Center for One Vision on Sat. Oct. 16th at 7pm.  Doors open and live music at 6:30pm.  The exhibition will be on display through November at the OAC (Oconomowoc, WI).

3. Cristina will be hosting a Poetry Open Mic at Books & Co. (Oconomowoc, WI) on Sat. Oct. 23, 2010 at 7pm, for featured poet, Liz Rhodebeck, who will be reading selections from her new book, What I Learned in Kansas.

10 Artists + 10 Poets = One Vision

On Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at 7pm, The Lake Country Project will have its first, fine art show and poetry reading at The Raven Gallery, owned by artist and editor Troy Tatlock, 690 Westfield Way, Pewaukee, WI 53072.  We will kick off the evening with live music performed by Nick Scholz and Shino Ishioka, followed by a poetry reading with an intermission.  Audience members will have the opportunity to meet our artists and poets to learn more about their work.  Our artists include: Barbara Reinhart, Toby Colton, Holly Kallie, Orel Rooney, Anne Raskopf, Heidi Hallett, Dint Sweitzer, Luke Wein, Troy Tatlock, and Judith Reidy.  Our poets include: Cristina Norcross, Liz Rhodebeck, Paula Anderson, Khristian Kay, Betty Rose, Sue Huebner, Mike Lane, Fred Kreutz, Abby Lorenz, and Kathleen Carlson.

Poetry Open Mic Night at Whelan's Coffee

Poetry Open Mic Night, Sat. July 25th, 2009 from 7-9pm, at Whelan's Coffee House in Oconomowoc, to benefit the Oconomowoc Food Pantry!

We will have LIVE music to kick off our evening with the talented musician and songwriter, Meaghan Owens! 

Meaghan Owens is an Americana songwriter from Wisconsin. Meaghan has released one cd with favorable reviews and airplay in American College/ Indie Radio and European radio. She splits her time between Nashville, Wisconsin, and touring. She is currently co-producing her second cd with Sigmund Snopek III. Meaghan's new album will feature the best Milwaukee and Nashville players including members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Meaghan tours nationally and regularly performs in Songwriter Festivals. Most recently, her song, "Copper Pennies" written for the Steel Bridge Songwriter Festival in Sturgeon Bay, was selected for the festival headquarters website. The Lake Country Poets will have a featured reading from 7-8pm and the open mic will be from 8-9pm. The open mic is open to all local writers and those who feel the calling of the poetic muse! Come on out and share your verse!

All attending are asked to bring 1 non-perishable/canned food item to donate to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry. Poetry with a purpose!

Travel Interstate 94 west to Hwy 16, exit Hwy 16 west to Hwy 83 exit, travel north on 83 for approximately 6 miles into North Lake. You'll come to the intersection of Hwy 83 & County Rd V. V. - turn right (Only goes to the right). Travel 1 block east on County Rd. V. V. Look for The Lakes Gallery of Fine Art is on the left.

NOTE: If you miss the I 94 / Hwy 16 connection - do not fret! I 94 will intersect Hwy 83. (adds about 6 additional miles to the route.) 

Limited parking is available at the gallery; however, immediate street parking is conveniently found on south side of County Rd V. V.

Participation in The Woodland Pattern Book Center Annual Poetry Marathon on January 31st, 2009 from 10am-1am.  I will have a 5 min. time slot to read poems between 11am-12noon, if you want to stop by and listen in.  All are welcome.  Come out and support the literary arts and a great, independent bookstore!

Charity Benefit Poetry Reading - October 4th, 2008 / Waukesha, WI


I will join in a gathering of poets reading poems of hope that focus on women's issues to benefit The Women's Center in Waukesha, WI.  The poetry readings begin at 9am, Saturday, Oct. 4th, 2008 in the Huelsman Board Room.

The Women's Center is located at 505 North East Avenue, Waukesha.

"Held in conjunction with the Walk for Family Peace, the open mic Poetry Reading will feature poems of courage, hope and peace during the walk."

"Poets are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation or other necessity for the Women's Center."

Charity Benefit Poetry Reading – September 13th, 2008 / Waukesha, WI

The 5th annual "Food for the Heart & the Hungry Poetry Reading" will be on Saturday, September 13th at Martha Merrell's Books & Café, 231 W. Main Street, Waukesha, WI.  The open mic reading begins at 6:30 p.m.; poets are invited to read their own poetry, or a favorite poem of another poet. Poets and audience are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.  Refreshments will be served and door prizes given away. 

I will be performing selections from my upcoming book Living Nature's Moments and one of the door prizes will be a free, signed copy of my first book, Land & Sea: Poetry Inspired by Art. 

All are welcome.  It's poetry for a good cause!  Hope to see you there!
